MyEclipse: Groovy support james_render50 - Mar 10, 2006 - 10:54 AM Post subject: Groovy support
Find that I'm doing a lot of things with groovy at the moment.. would love some cool groovy features - the eclipse plugin is a bit out of date. Ability to run groovy scripts.. some sort of groovy editor..

It would be very useful if you guys add support for both Groovy and Grails.
Thank you,

I'll also chime in here and second (or third) this request for continually better Groovy (and Grails) support.rais - Aug 15, 2007 - 07:45 PM Post subject: RE: Support Groovy and Grails
the hibernate support is excellent right now. I would love to see some Grails (GORM) support as well.altamaiz - Sep 25, 2007 - 01:47 AM Post subject:

Count me in. Both Groovy and Grails. Eclipse is loosing ground vs. Idea 7. This October both groovy and grails will reach important milestones. Good IDE support is crucial for acceptance, esp. since we java developers have been spoiled with good java IDEs. :-)jthomas373 - Oct 16, 2007 - 12:14 AM Post subject:

We are getting ready to start a major application with Grails and will be using Groovy a lot. I would love to see support for this. There is a Groovy Plugin here: http://tinyurl.com/2odatr but the code assist is limited.mlynde - Nov 05, 2007 - 08:13 PM Post subject:

As a long time running customer - I'd like to add my voice to those who want Grails support.
The groovy plugin is improving and I suspect will continue to improve however grails support I can't yet find unless I want to pay for Intelijmkochco - Mar 04, 2008 - 12:57 AM Post subject: One more for groovy support
Just another request for some level of Groovy ( and Grails ) support in MyEclipseomarps - Apr 22, 2008 - 07:28 PM Post subject: Groovy's Spring and JUnit support would be awesome also
If there are any plans to add Groovy/Grails support in MyEclipse I think that you also have to work on the Spring and JUnit integration.
At this time I'm tryinh to make work togheter Spring and Web App natures with Groovy nature provided by the Groovy Plugin. It stinks that you can work some plumbing classes faster with scripting groovy but it has conflicts when you tries to integrates in your application.
I think it might be a nice addition in your current features stack.support-rkalla - Apr 23, 2008 - 04:24 PM Post subject: RE: Groovy

If the user demand for it increases we will evaluate adding support for it. Right now the requests have been kind of spotty though.

Spring is getting a full update for the 6.5 release. As far as JUnit integration, what do you mean specifically?dynoweb - Apr 25, 2008 - 12:44 AM Post subject: RE: One more for groovy support

I have not yet renewed my subscription, because I need Grails and Groovy support in my ide.
Franksupport-rkalla - Apr 28, 2008 - 06:10 PM Post subject:
Frank,
You can always add any 3rd party Grails/Groovy plugins to your MyEclipse install. We don't have any solid plans right now to add Groovy/Grails in the 6.5 or 7.0 release at this time though (if that helps you make a renewal decision).frocco - Apr 29, 2008 - 02:38 PM Post subject:

Better support for Grails and Groovy is a critical IDE feature. We but are running into a roadblock because of lack of support for Grails/Groovy projects. Please consider adding this badly needed functionality.
Thank you.GDW90 - Nov 17, 2008 - 03:01 AM Post subject:
How can you possibly not add Groovy support? You will be left behind without it!
Come on and get with the plan!

Groovy and Grails would be a nice to have. The current groovy plugin does about 50% of what I need with the myeclipse plugin.pretorius - Dec 01, 2008 - 11:22 AM Post subject:
Another vote for Groovy/Grails support. We are going to start a one year project using those tecnologies.ajibarra - Jan 24, 2009 - 03:21 PM Post subject:
i don't know why MyEclipse don't release yet thats the community wants. We wants Groovy/Grails Support, we wants Struts2 support. You ever say "If the user demand for it increases we will evaluate adding support for it", it's not true.support-rkalla - Jan 26, 2009 - 06:33 PM Post subject:
ajibarra,
Please understand, we have 100s of thousands of users... even if 20 want a new feature, we have to prioritize that work against 1000 other feature requests that are "must haves" for other groups of customers. It's not an easy task.gjf - Feb 16, 2009 - 06:32 PM Post subject: One more
Nothing to understand, alas. You have your priorities, we have ours. Mine, these days, is Grails; I'm using NetBeans; and I'm getting rather fond of it.cybermac912 - Apr 03, 2009 - 07:31 PM Post subject: RE: One more for groovy support
+1 on the Grails support especially. Please don't make me use IntelliJ or NetBeans anymore. I can't take that kind of torment ;)xnickmx - Apr 07, 2009 - 06:20 PM Post subject: Grails!

We need support for Groovy and Grails. Anything planned soon? I hate to switch IDE's but I'll be forced to if MyEclipse doesn't start supporting Groovy and Grails.

Looks like MyEclipse is waiting for the community to develop this! All the requests are falling into deaf ears!Andreas.Hartmann - May 18, 2009 - 05:59 PM Post subject: RE: Groovy and Grails Support
We would like to see Grails and Groovy support too, since it boosts developing performance for a high percentage. There are any plans to enable this feature in myeclipse?
Iit seems the GRECLIPSE codehaus developers need assistance to put their plugin to the next level so it is also usable in myeclipse.

Been trying out Netbeans and IntelliJ and they both have excellent support for Groovy, Grails and Griffon, IntelliJ in particular is pretty impressive. Need to think seriously about things when my MyEclipse renewal comes around later in the year.openconcept - Sep 11, 2009 - 05:18 PM Post subject: Groovy support

Wow, people have been asking for Groovy / Grails support for 3 1/2 years and we get one "duly noted" and one "nothing yet". What's up? Java is getting a little long in the tooth.support-scott - Nov 17, 2009 - 05:18 PM Post subject: RE: One more for groovy support
All,
A level of Groovy support is already available to MyEclipse users. To get started with Groovy in MyEclipse you can navigate to Help > Software Updates > Find and Install... then search for "Groovy". Once you add the plugin from the catalog and restart, you'll have Groovy language support. Once you've got that perhaps the next step is to document "what else" you'd like to see on top of that to provide you the features you're specifically looking for.patricktsang - Jan 04, 2010 - 09:20 AM Post subject: Re: RE: One more for groovy support
hi,
Anyway to update the Groovy to the latest version (1.7.0) on the 8.0GA plugin?
The current 1.5.7 is damn old.
Please help.support-joy - Jan 11, 2010 - 11:04 AM Post subject: RE: Re: RE: One more for groovy support
Pat,
Sorry MyEclipse currently doesn't provide an integrated support for Groovy 1.7. Can you check if it is compatible with Eclipse 3.5.1? If yes, you can add it as a plugin using any of the below mentioned options -
a) unzip the plugin to <MyEclipse installation dir>/dropins
b) add as a plugin using Help > Sofware Updates > Add/ Remove Software
restart IDE and give it a shot.patricktsang - Jan 13, 2010 - 03:39 AM Post subject: RE: Re: RE: One more for groovy support
Joy,
It doesn't work.
Please provide support of Groovy 1.7.0 on up coming release.
thankssupport-joy - Jan 13, 2010 - 06:04 AM Post subject: RE: Re: RE: One more for groovy support
Pat,
I will escalate to the management for their consideration and add to our feature tracking list. Thank you for your support.patricktsang - Feb 24, 2010 - 12:31 PM Post subject: RE: Re: RE: One more for groovy support
The latest version of Groovy is 1.7.0, and Grails is 1.2.1 already.
Please update at least the Groovy, but I still hope the Grails can be integrated on 8.5.
