MyEclipse: Crystal Reports jeconnolly - Aug 21, 2009 - 01:00 AM Post subject: Crystal Reports
Is there any chance of adding the support for Crystal Reports that SAP puts out? It seems like it should be a simple import of their support but it isn't I tried to load it using the update feature (site: http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalreportsforeclipse/2_0/update_site) in the Help menu but to no avail? Maybe there is a procedure I can follow to perform this magic.

jeconnolly,
Can you give some more information?
1. what are your installation details? You can get them from MyEclipse > installation Summary > Installation Details.
2. Are you getting any errors while using the update site?
Going over the net, I came across the following link
http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/Web_Links-index-req-viewlink-cid-670.html
where it is mentioned that, crystal reports 2.0 is compatible with eclipse 3.4.1.
Since the base eclipse for the latest version of MyEclipse(7.5) is 3.4.2, there could be compatibility issues.konathala - Oct 16, 2009 - 07:52 AM Post subject: RE: Crystal Reports
So is there a way to resolve this issue. Please do post me if you had anybody has a solution for this. My mail id is konathala2003@gmail.comjeconnolly - Oct 16, 2009 - 03:32 PM Post subject: RE: Crystal Reports
Shalini, sorry about not answering before but I did not get notification of your post. It probably got caught in my SPAM filter or something like that. Anyway here are the installation details:
*** Date:
Friday, October 16, 2009 10:27:03 AM EDT
** System properties:
OS=MacOSX
OS version=10.5.8
Java version=1.5.0_20
I don't remember if there were any errors while using the update site but thee probably were some. I also tried it on a PC running Win-XP and that did not work either.
At that point I gave up and posted this request on the forum.
I hope that helps,

Jim,
Could you tell us how you installed MyEclipse? Did you use the Help > Software Updates > Add/Remove Software menu item to add the update site?
I'm afraid we do need a more detailed description of what went wrong to help further - you are saying it did not work, could you tell me exactly what error message you saw?
Also, before trying the update, could you please clean your error log and then attempt to add CR? If it fails, please paste the log here.
In case you weren't already aware, MyEclipse 7.5 does include MyEclipse Reports which you could also use as a reporting solution, though I do understand if you must use CR anyway.jeconnolly - Jan 03, 2010 - 03:37 AM Post subject:

As an aside MyEclipse Reports does not seem to have an API to create reports programatically and is yherefore not a viable alternative.

Jim Connolly,
Sorry for the late reply? Were you able to resolve this issue? Have you verified the crystal report plugin you are trying to add to MyEclipse 8.0 is compatible to Eclipse 3.5.1? Can you please share the web-link of the plugin? I will try to research this at our end. I am afraid, currently MyEclipse doesn't provide any integrated support for Crystal Reports.jeconnolly - Jan 18, 2010 - 07:51 PM Post subject: Crystal Reports
No I have not resolved the problem.

Jim Connolly,
Thank you for providing the details. I have verified that there are dependency conflicts when you try to add Crystal Reports plugin using the update site http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalreportsforeclipse/2_0/update_site/ to MyEclipse 7.5. I have even tried to add this to Eclipse classic 3.4.2 and then add MyEclipse as a plugin. At the time of adding MyEclipse as a plugin, it throws dependency conflicts. I am afraid I cannot offer any alternate solution at this time. As mentioned earlier, MyEclipse currently doesn't provide any integrated support for Crystal Reports.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
