Post subject: Installing m2eclipse from its update site

We are trying to use m2eclipse, we got installed successfully but not all the features provided by plugin are activated. Is there anything else we need to do to get all features?

Developers are switching to a plain Eclipse installation to get all the features and stop using myeclipse. If this keeps happening we will stop renewing the lincenses, since nobody will continue using them.

Please let me know if there's workaround for this issue.

Can you please answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
2. Can you please elaborate more on how you have installed m2eclipse plugin? Can you please share the update site / weblink?
3. Also what are the features which are not added to your ME profile?
4. Have you verified if the m2eclipse plugin is compatible to the base eclipse ? For e.g. ME 8.5 is based on Eclipse 3.5.2 and ME 7.5 is based on Eclipse 3.4.2

Hi MCI/Verizon-MA,

Thank you for the installation details and other information.

Did you install m2eclipse separately? If so, please remove the installation of m2eclipse and install ME because ME will have its own version of m2eclipse, so 2 m2eclipse versions may clash.
After uninstalling m2eclipse, If the problem still persists, please try re-installing ME from Pulse.
To re-install from pulse follow the steps:
1) Run pulse-explorer.exe file from Start Menu-->Programs-->Pulse-->Pulse Explorer or open pulse explorer manually from ~Genuitec > Pulse Explorer > pulse-explorer.exe
2) Login with your credentials or anonymously.
3) From the dropdown select "Galileo"
4) Under my profiles right click on MyEclipse 8.5 and select "Re-Install" option from the context menu.
Let me know whether the problem is resolved or not.

We tried that already, still same issue. According to your documentation we should be able to uninstall any feature (Example, Maven for eclipse), but it looks like you are managing the features exposed by it.

Also your version does not include all features, example the "Checkout Maven project from SCM" is missing and developers use that feature to working with their maven projects.

Any progress ? We found that when Maven support is removed, MyEclipseIde never closed in Linux and you cannot switch Workspace either.

How did you remove Maven support? To be on the same page, can you clarify if you have followed the same -
1. Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Maven4MyEclipse and uncheck "Enable Maven4MyEclipse features" checkbox.
2. Click on [Apply] and [OK]
3. Does it show any error while trying to close MyEclipseIDE / trying to switch workspace? Can you list them here?
4. Are there any other processes which are running?

Complete summary is there, We just want all m2eclipse features enable with myeclipseide. You can add your own features but don't remove features from existing plugin. I cannot help much if must of the features from m2eclipse are disable when we disable Mave support for eclispe.

I would just like to clarify something upfront about our Maven support. Our Maven support does not change or cripple any M2Eclipse core features, what we add is compatibility with MyEclipse projects. To answer your questions about Maven from earlier in this thread:

- Maven menu is remove.
I assume you are talking about the Maven context menu. For all Maven projects you will see a "Maven4MyEclipse" menu which is identical to the Maven menu.

- In preferences the Maven option is also removed.
The Maven preference is found under Maven4MyEclipse and is identical to that offered by m2eclipse.

- In projects, Maven options is moved under Others instead of Maven.
I'm sorry but I could not follow this point. Could you please clarify? Are you talking about a wizard or a property page?

Correct, we do not distribute the extra features, but these can be installed on top of MyEclipse by adding the extras update site:
http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/sites/m2e-extras/
and installing the SCM feature for instance - you do not need to uninstall our Maven features for this.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the above. I would be glad to help you get to a state you need without having to uninstall MyEclipse.

Coming to your current situation - could you please let me know what your issue is?
Just to clarify a point here, if you uninstall Maven using our configuration center, does MyEclipse fail to quit then? (i.e. in the same session in which you have tried to remove the features and failed?) Or have you already removed the feature and now MyEclipse fails to quit?

Are you starting multiple MyEclipse instances after you close the previous instance, if so - do you get warned about the workspace being in use when you start a new instance or does it open to the right workspace?

Creating maven project - requires a professional license.
Import does not work - I don't see the option.

About process not dying, process seems to be running while I can still start a new one in same workspace.

Did we have resolution to this problem. I am also having multiple issues with ME 8.6 and our team is about to quit on it to. I am also trying to install m2eclipse and it keeps saying no repository found at http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/sites/m2e-extras or http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/sites/m2e which are correct urls. Please help or we will have to switch std. eclipse.
