Some of you indicated a problem with logging into the portal. The portal appears to accept your MemberID and Password, but continue to present login fields. This appears to be a browser side issue but we have not ruled out the possibility that it may also be a server side concern.

To remedy this problem, please check the following:

1. Make sure your browser can accept cookies.
2. Make sure your date and time is reasonably accurate

If the problem persist, try deleting existing cookie and login again.

For IE, cookies can be deleted using; Tools>Internet Options > Settings > View Files. The MyEclipse Cookie should be (memberid)@www.myeclipseide.com

For Netscape cookies can be deleted using; Tools> Cookie Manager > Manage Stored Cookies. Delete all of www.MyEclipseide Cookies.

Please let us know through this thread what seems to work and if you continue to have problems logging into the portal.

Best Regards
Jim K.

To confirm: I suffered this problem too using both IE6 and Firebird 0.7.1.

I deleted all the Firebird cookies pertaining to www.myeclipseide.com and myeclipseide.com and logged in again. The site now "remembers" me when I quit and restart Firebird.

Here's the weird thing: so does IE now! Huh?

That's because the Firbird team knows that everyone has IE installed so they're "highly compatible". That means they automatically pick up the IE preferences, and cookies, apparently. :-)

Aaaahh...but, Obi Wan, explain how IE picked up Firebird's preferences? I deleted Firebird's cookies and started IE, not the other way around. Are you saying that Firebird's cookie deletion function deletes the corresponding cookies from IE's cache???

Sean,

I'm saying that Firebird uses IE's caches for everything. Make sense now?

Please note that a known cookie management problem with Firebird was corrected in their recent 1.2 release available at http://www.apple.com/safari/ or through the "Software Update System Preference"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the OS X Safari browser a completely different beast to Mozilla's Firebird?

Safari is a great browser though.

And yes, I still have all sorts of trouble with Firebird's handling of cookies. I rarely come across a site using Firebird where I'm 'remembered', though it does happen. And I'm not piggyy-backing IE's cookie cache because I'm running Linux all the time now.

Yes, totally different code bases.

I blame lack of sleep on my last stupid post, and reserve the right to use the same excuse as it will not be my last stupid comment.

I meant to say that a new release for Safari (not Firebird) is now available.

Sorry for the confusion.
