I was really looking forward to the release of MyEclipseIDE 4.1.1, just to find that the JavaScript debugger is still not available on Linux, contrary to what could be read in the forums and the ‘New and Noteworthy’ part (which still refers to version 4.1).

I can’t find any information on when this functionality will be available on Linux. Is it possible to provide an expected date ?

Furthermore, it would be interesting to update the Release Notes with a list of features that did not make it in a particular release.

    still looking forward eagerly,

    B.

    Hi,

I’m considering a professional subscription of MyEclipse and my main interest is the Web 2.0 / AJAX development and therefore the Javascript debugger. I’m running on Linux also (and so are some other developers in our company).

I’ve been testing MyEclipse in the past a bit and liked it a lot.

Unfortunately there’s no reason for me to make a subscription or any recommendations before the Web 2.0 functionality is available under Linux and I have been able to evaluate it. Could you please provide an estimate when the functionality is available?

Sorry guys the Linux port of Web 2.0 features didn’t make it. We were bummed as well because we were so close. We just have one last hurdle to overcome and then we will be able to release the Linux version. So we’re hopeing it will be finished soon.

I’d like to add to what Greg said, we weren’t bumbed so much as we were “pissed off to all hell”, as Greg mentioned we overcame all the hurdles necessary except for one remaining system linked library issue (IIRC) that was a real nightmare for “non perfect setups”, it would have basically ended up in an endless list of bug reports with library errors had we released it the way it was except for a few folks.

You have my permission to come throw eggs at us at EclipseCon 🙁

Will you guys be doing an update release in the near future with this functionality or will we have to wait until 5.x?

    Most likely the former.

    Hi,

sorry to bother you again about this : after you missed the 4.1.1 target, something was said about an intermediate release before 5.x.
I can’t see any change in the evolution bars.

Is it possible to give just a little hint about your plans to have a JS debugger on linux ?

    thanks,

    B

In 5.0M1, the JavaScript Debugger will be working on linux. I’m testing a development build of it as we speak. However, you will need to pay close to attention to the special release notes/documentation instructions that go along with the JS Debugger on linux as it may have some external configuration requirements on your distribution.
