Is it possible to have automatic generation of getter/setter methods?

Sure, right click on your file, go to Source, and then Generate Getters/Setters.

If you mean automatic like you type "private String name;" and it pops up those methods without another thought, you can't do that, but you can bind the generation dialog to a quick keystroke ot make it easier (I have mine as CTRL-G)
