Post subject: Entering Japanese Characters in XML file  PostPosted: Dec 30, 2009 - 06:12 AM

I am using MyEclipse 7.5 Enterprise workbench (English). I need to enter few Japanese characters along with English in an XML file.

But when I copy Japanese characters from a Microsoft word document and paste them in XML file in MyEclipse IDE, the characters are shown like this 'IIII'. I have even changed the XML file encoding as UTF-8 but no success.

Any help will be appreciated.

This isn't a problem with the editor or UTF-8 support, this is likely caused by Microsoft Word copying the text characters into the system buffer as fully formatted text with Office-specific formatting information in it, so when it gets pased into the XML EDitor it comes in as garbage.

Is there a "Copy without formatting" feature in Office to copy the plain Unicode char into the system buffer and then past into XML?
