Is there any way to use Internet Explorer instead of MyEclipse’s default Mozilla-based browser when debugging Javascript applications?

(Not that I prefer IE to Mozilla – just trying to track down a script bug that seems to occur in IE only 🙂

    Thanks.
    Gene

    P.S. I am using MyEclipse 6.0.1.

    Gene,

Thanks for the feedback. As Nipun mentioned it isn’t currently possible to debug with IE. However, we are currently researching ways to enable IE debugging, so hopefully we will be able to accommodate it in the future.

I am working on a project that uses extensively JQuery. Normally, I use FireFox in debugging javascript code whenever I can and then test the code in IE to make sure it works there too. Now, I am at a point that the code that works in Firefox stalls in IE and I could not debug it using MeEclipse Ajax Debugger. That effectively stopped the advance of the project.

Since all of the users of the application are using IE 6.0/7.0 (company mandated browser), I really would like to see Myeclipse’s team put in some efforts to make this tool work on IE.

    Thank you.

    wangxian,

In the interim, I would suggest you to uncheck Disable script debugging (internet explorer) as shown in the attached screenshot(From internet explorer menu click on Tools -> Internet Options. Select Advanced tab, under Browsing uncheck the Disable script debugging option. Click [Apply]).

Also cross post your jquery issues to jquery forums.

This e-mail thread is been going on since 2005. Any ideas about when MyEclipse web 2.0 browser will support ActiveX or when we will be able to use IE instead.

One of the main reasons why my company will use MyEclipse is to do javascript debugging and our company application, which i am trying to debug on, runs only on IE. Any updates ??

    Thanks

    Usman,

You have excellent timing. MyEclipse is adding support specifically for IE JavaScript Debugging in the MyEclipse 8.0 M2 release due out at the end of this month.

You can right-click and debug individual HTML or JS files using IE or you can point at URLs of running applications and launch them into the IE debugger. It’s extremely flexible.
