How do i add a new JSF implementation to be used in my project except what is available with default installation. For example, if i need to use Richfaces or Primefaces in my project, how do i go ahead and add those features during my development? Please clarify.

I have read in the forums that Richfaces support was requested almost 1 year back and still we don't see that happening? Why?????

amjathsharief,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Could you elaborate on the support you're looking for? You can always download the required jar files for RichFaces (and its dependencies) and add them to your project. RichFaces also has maven achetypes that you can use to create new maven projects and have dependencies downloaded automatically via maven processing.

Basically i am looking for drag and drop UI designer like its available for one of the JSF implementation inbuilt in MyEclipse. The purpose of me purchasing the license is to improve the productivity. When i see MyEclipse doesn't give me a option to choose my drag and drop designer for RichFaces, i feel i have invested at a wrong place. Hope you understand the point.

amjathsharief,

Have you tried the JSF visual designer, with Richfaces libraries added to the project? Though we're unlikely to directly support every technology out there, just adding appropriate libraries can give you some support, like content assist.

We receive many requests to add features to MyEclipse but have to make business decisions about what we spend our limited resources on. If many users request a certain feature, then that would obviously hold more weight than feature requests that don't have much support. That doesn't mean Richfaces support will not be implemented, and we continue to prioritise that request against other work that we have but I'm afraid that we can't give any assurances as to when, or whether, direct Richfaces support will be added.
