What a chore. I was able to get through it and was successful in connecting to my own data source rather than run in lock step with the tutorial.

This is an animated tutorial and the problem I has was that I coudn’t pause the except on a topic change. There are, as I remember it, 4 major topics to the tutorial. I can’t tell you how many times I had to re-run a major topic to get from one step to another developing my project along with the tutorial script.

I did press the F11 key and that did allow it to display full-screen with a multi-media bar along the bottom. Again, pressing the pause key had no effect until you came to the end of a major topic.

If the pause key had worked (like I think it ought to have worked), I could have completed the tutorial in 30-60 minutes. As it was, it took 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Still, it was very useful. After I had completed it and added a retrieve method, I tried to add Spring 2.5 capability. Doing so, with no other modifications, rendered the project uselss and crashing and burning… sort of a Hindenberg deal.

    Douglas,

That *specific* problem was a shortcoming of the screen casting software we used to use and one of the reasons we changed to using a different piece of software for our demos. We are glad you found the content helpful and realize the “no pause” was probably maddening, sorry about that.
