I am using the MyEclipse 7.0 full release and have found all the things in the tutorial that do not apply, but one that I can't find anything on is that I do not get a component palette in the design window. I have looked thru all the options I can find and can't find anything to turn the palette on and what I could find in the forums said it should always be on.

I have the outline and properties views showing in the MyEclipse Java Enterprise perspective as shown in the tutorial, but no palette as shown in the tutorial. Where is the palette of components to use?

I downloaded the on-demand example and opened it and still no palette in there either.

Can you paste a link to the tutorial that you are referring to. Also, please point out the image with the palette that is not showing up.

The tutorial is the one in your educational materials under Ajax, the link is http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/icefaces/. Section 3 of that tutorial talks about the Palette of components and shows the component palette on the right side of the Design view for the ICEFaces screen.

I did find references that the tutorial is out of date, but I would expect there to be a palette still somewhere for inclusion of ICEFaces components.
Let me know if you come up with anything.

Can you open the file using the Visual JSF designer. There is an arrow in the top right corner. If you click the arrow, the palette should open up.

1- created a new web application
2- added jsf/icefaces capabilities
3- create a new jsp page (file.jspx) from a template
4- First the palette is not in the left side when I open the file in the jsf visual designer, from Windows menu, I select the "Palette" view. When the palette opens up, I do not see icefaces category. I also oberserved that some of the categories are duplicated.

Advise please.

Forget to mention, I'm using the latest version of myeclipse (v8.0)

well, after I added jsf facelets capabilities to the web application I was able to see the icefaces palette, but I observed that the description of the components are not displaying.

I'm seeing the same issue. I follow all the steps in the IceFaces tutorial, which are woefully out of date, then I get into the design window for the jspx file and there's no IceFaces entry in the palette.

In the Window->Preferences->MyEclpse->Project Capabilities->IceFaces section I see a page where you can seemingly add IceFaces jars, and there's a note at the bottom that reads: Select this to enable IceFaces components in the Visual JSF Designer palette. Even this page is not clear on what you are supposed to do - what Jars do I need to add. I thought all IceFaces jars were supposed to be added in the project creation steps. I'm confused.

I was unable to reproduce this issue at my end. Did you use the ICEFaces JSPX page template to create create your JSP page? Are you using the MyEclipse Visual JSF editor to view your page? Can you send me a screenshot of your palette.

Well, I went to work today, where I have the 'same identical' MyEclipse 8.0 configuration and I opened the Window->Preferences->MyEcilpse->Project Capabilities->IceFaces and see a list of IceFaces jars that I didn't see on my home installation. So, I came home and downloaded the IceFaces 1.8 package directly from the IceFaces web site and added the jars, and now I see all the IceFaces components in the palette.

I am using the MyEclipse Visual JSF Designer editor and my file is called MyJsp.jspx as in the tutorial example.

I'll keep plugging away with this though now i'm running into issues trying to deploy to a Glassfish v2 server configuration, where it can't seem to redeploy an app without stopping and restarting the server. I'll get back to the IceFaces coding soon.
