I am planning to do a migration from RAD 6.0 and seriously evaluating Myeclipse as an option over RAD 7.5. In need some advice and reference on how best to do this.

For the Web project, we use JSF that comes with RAD – datatable, textbox etc….

For EJB project, we have a mixture of Session Facade and POJO for persistence. We will design out Session Facade in time to come. We do not use any Entity Bean (although there are annotation there because of the Session Facade)

In WAS, we use the javamail, scheduler. We will be migrating to 6.1 and 7.0.

    Database is DB2.

Given the above, do I really need the blue version of just the standard version.

And is it a simple matter of importing a project interchange and fix any problem arising.

    Appreciate your comments and guidance

    Joe,

First, thanks for asking us for some guidance. We really want to work with you to make your migration a success.

You absolutely need MyEclipse Blue Edition. We put a lot of work into that to work seamlessly with WebSphere, DB2, etc that is simply not in our Professional edition. You can check out the most recent additions on the WebSphere and project support fronts on the “New & Noteworthy page”.

Before you do anything, I very highly recommend you watch our recent recorded webinar on MyEclipse Blue Edition. It’s available on the Webinars page, specifically, it’s called “MyEclipse 7.1 Blue Edition: RAD Project Support, WebSphere 7”.

Once you’ve had a chance to review these resources, please let us know if you have any specific questions or if we can help your evaluation in any way. We love feedback!
