Dev Team... Please help!

I've been searching the forums all day, and have found many similar posts, but nothing that seems to help my case.

I recently upgraded to MyEclipse 8, and everything was working swimmingly, until today. I started receiving this message:

Now, I have experienced these issues with previous versions of MyEclipse, and the work-arounds posted on the forums (memory argument settings) always seemed to rectify the problem.

However, nothing seems to be working this time around. I checked the myeclipse.ini file to see what the default settings were, and they are the exact same as the 'recommended settings' from the warning message above. Regardless, I tried adding these arguments to the shortcut target, also tried using them directly from the command line.

This only seemed to worsen the problem, as when I boot up MyEclipse now, it pops up the same warning message, then pops up an error message (something about an internal error while building the workspace) and the MyEclipse completely crashes, instead of before just closing and restarting.

So at this point, MyEclipse is completely un-usable, as everytime I run it, it crashes with the same warning and error message before exploding

I also tried to double these recommended settings, but was disapointed with the exact same results. I then reverted the .ini file to it's original and removed any arguments from the command line/shortcut, and the same problem persists; warning, then error, then crash.

This is a devestating problem for me and my coleagues, as we can't even work on our projects at this point due to this inconvenience. Please help ASAP.

FYI, at this point I can't even get MyEclipse open for long enough to even see/copy the installation summary infomration.

It should also be noted that one of my projects uses JSP's extensively, and I wasn't having this problem until I started opening and editing some of these JSP's regularily. Regardless, MyEclipse is now completely un-usable. I tried running using the -clean argument, which popped up some installation and argument summary window, then tried starting MyEclipse again with the recommending settings, and still have the same problem; Warn, Error, Crash and burn.

This could really be a game breaker for my development team, and my company as a whole. Now seriously considering changing IDE's entirely because of this issue. A speedy resolution and reply would be beneficial to both parties; my company and Genuitec respectively. Please get back to me.[/quote]

So, the lack of responses have forced me to try other measures. Attempted to uninstall MyEclipse 8, and reinstall it. This seemed to work initially, the PermGen errors/warnings have not re-appeared, and the IDE is no longer crashing. However, I'm faced with a whole new set of annoyances now.

I'm now almost constantly receiving error messages of a different sort, whenever I try to do anything. Starting the IDE throws errors, running a server throws errors, opening a project throws errors, validation throws errors, editing files throws errors. There is quite a variety of them being thrown, but I see a few most often:

The list goes on and on. I've tried cleaning the projects, running MyEclipse with the -clean command, again tried modifying the JVM memory arguments, and nothing seems to work.

This is really becoming quite a headache. Can someone please respond to this, I know the dev team and support team have a lot on their hands... But this 'stable' version of MyEclipse 8 seems to be FAR from stable.

Currently, the error log is so massive, I'm not sure I should post it here...? Please, any help would be seriously appreciated.

I am sorry that you are running into this issue. Can you give some more information?
1. Clear the log at workspace dir > .metadata > .log, start the IDE and copy paste the errors that are logged?
2. Can you go to Window > Preferences > General > Keys and click on "Restore Defaults"?
3. Can you list out any 3rd party plugins that you have installed?

2) Window -> Preferences -> Keys -> "Restore Defaults" == This has no effect, after resotring these defaults, clearing the .log and restarting the IDE, the exact same list of errors is produced.

3) There are NO 3rd party plugins installed. The installer filed was downloaded from the MyEclipse download section (myeclipse-8.0.0-win32.exe), and run on the local machine. No plugins were installed after or before this action.

Can you try the following?
1. Can you switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persits?
2. Can you try running the garbage collector MyEclipse > Utilities > Run Garbage Collection?
If the issue still persists, can you copy paste your pulse.handshake.id from ~\Genuitec\Common\configuration\pulse2.properties.
Can you tell us how many projects do you have in your current workspace?

1) Created a new, fresh (empty) workspace. Startup IDE was fine, until I imported 1 project into the workspace. During the import (and copy into workspace), the exact same error routine was produced, except this time I also noticed there was a 'Background Indexer Crash Recovery -> org.eclipse.dltk.core' error was produced. So this does not seem to solve the problem.

2) Garbage collection did it's thing and freed up some memory, but as soon as I edit a jsp page (and save it), the workspace is rebuilt, and the memory jumps back up to approximately 70% of available (according to the heap status toolbar), and yet again, the same error routine is produced upon editing and saving any jsp file.

4) There are 6 projects in the workspace in total, but only 4 are open; 2 web services projects, 1standard java app, and 1 web app. The 2 web services projects are deployed to a Geronimo server, and the web app projects is deployed to a Tomcat server, but I don't think that is relevant.

Can you open pulse explorer manually from ~Genuitec > Pulse Explorer > pulse-explorer.exe or you can download pulse from poweredbypulse.com.
Log in anonymously. From the left pane select, "Eclipse Galileo". Your profile should be listed under "Profiles", right click on it and from the context menu
select "Re-install and Run".

i find this thread just looking for the same error. I don't know what exactly happened, on friday I was working to my project and had no problems at all, on monday morning Javascript Validator kept giving quite the same error (it was a null pointer exception for me) and I had to disable Javascript Validator from the Builders options of my project's properties.
I was not able to build or deploy the project.

1) I'm not receiving the PermGen error since my first re-install, however that could be due to the fact that I'm not consistently watching the memory manager and running the garbage collection every time it exceeds 70% of available memory. I am still receiving Memory Pool errors, Javascript validation errors, key binding errors, etc etc...

2) Attempted to install some 'Examples on Demand' in a freshly created workspace, however, none of the projects could be installed, and all failed with the message 'Could not install example project'.

3) I've also noticed that MyEclipse fails and throws an error every time I tell it to generate the serialVersionUID for a class that implements the Serializable interface. Not highly critical, but annoying none the less.

4) This morning I started receiving another Memory error as follows:

I have the exactly the SAME issue. Every time I imported a project, I got the Indexer and memory error and have to exit MyEclipse and started again, and it repeats all the time, even I restart my PC.
