plofte,
Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. Can you copy and paste your installation details? Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details.
2. What is your OS and version
3. Do you have any prior installs of ME? If yes, can you list the other versions
4. How did you install ME 8.0? Using all-in-one installer / pulse / archived update site on top of eclipse classic?
5. Can you list the steps that led you to the stack overflow error
6. How many projects do you have in your current workspace. Can you try by changing to a new workspace?
7. I would recommend you create smaller workspace with 2-3 projects and give it a shot
I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse.
1. Open Pulse. If you don't have pulse, download the same from
www.poweredbypulse.com
2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
3. Select relevant realm from top left hand corner dropdown. If you have ME 8.x, choose "Eclipse-Galileo", if you have 7.x, choose "Eclipse-Ganymede", in case you have ME 6.x, choose "Eclipse-Europa".
4. This will redirect you to the pulse-explorer page
5. From "My Profiles", select current ME profile.
6. Right click on ME profile and from the context menu click on [Re-install and run]
7. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.
Let me know how this works for you.
Best.
