MyEclipse is endlessly "Building workspace". This started a few days ago after working flawlessly for years. Very frustrating. I uninstalled and reinstalled from myeclipse-8.0.0-win32.exe downloaded from www.myeclipseide.com. Same problem. Today, I downloaded, ran and registered Pulse and let it install MyEclipse. Same problem. I have been a MyEclipse user for years - keeping up to date with every new version - this is the 1st time I've encountered this. Opening a simple java project. Cannot close the IDE either - must go in to Task Manager and force it closed. Pasted installation details below. Help!

gz2jbt,
Are there any errors in the log file located at workspace dir > .metadata > .log?
Can you switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persists? |

safrant,
Can you give some more information?
1. How many projects are there in your current workspace?
2. Do you face the same issue when you switch to a new workspace?
3. What is the value of -Xmx in myeclipse.ini file located at your installation dir? |

I had the same problem for a while (incidentally, after I built and used a second workspace for the first time). I tried disabling subclipse, because that were the last error messages I could see. But no change and no errormessages.
As for the questions (though I wasn't asked, I know):
- There were 10 projects in the workspace, only one (very small one) was open already.
- I switched to a new workspace and used that without a problem. Incidentally, after I switched back to the original workspace, the problem was solved!
- -Xmx512m
Maybe the info that switching workspaces is able to fix this problem at times is useful for someone.
(This was with MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench Version: 6.0.1 GA Build id: 6.0.1-GA-200710 .) |
