Hi,

We are planning to migrate to blue from RSA however one of the key challenges to migrate is non availablity of exploeded deployment feature in myeclipse blue 8.5.

1. Is there a plan to support to exploded deployment in future release? if so now soon. As our ear contains lot of EJB and WAR projects "Add to deployment" take a lot of time to deploy due to packaging jar/war/ear. This reduces productivity during development phase.

Exploded mode of deployment is available with WAS7. Please ensure that the "Deployment Connection" is set to "Classic Mode". From Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Servers > Websphere 7, edit your server instance and select "Classic Mode" and click "Finish". Now you can choose either exploded or packaged mode when deploying to the server. I have attached a screen shot for your reference.

Thanks for your response. This is a good news. I had asked this question a week ago and had got an response that exploded deploymment is not available to websphere v7 due to some issues. Please see the response below:

First, thanks for trying MyEclipse Blue! We have a lot of companies that are rapidly switching over to it and away from RAD and RSA. We'll do whatever we can to help add you to that list. :-)

We don't support exploded deployment on WebSphere 7 because IBM has made substantial changes to their server operation that prevents this option from functioning reliably. Instead, we added our enhanced connector support for WebSphere 7 which does effectively the same thing: it deploys only changes to the project that is running in WebSphere when you redeploy. It's highly efficient and uses the same mechanism that RSA uses for reliability.

This is most likely a library dependency or configuration issue that's specific to your project setup. If this was an existing project you brought in from RSA, please be sure you used our automated enhancement tools on the project to correct the library paths etc. If you instead tried to alter it manually, this may be the source of the issue.

Hi Shalini,

I tried installing a sample web project using the exploded deploy option on Websphere 7. However, after deploying the application if I try making a change to the jsp. Those changes are not getting synced with the websphere server.

Need your help to resolve this hot deployment issue urgently as if this works then we can safely move on to Myeclipse platform from RSA.

Can you create an EAR application and add your sample web application as a web module to the EAR project?
Now if you start your server in debug mode and make changes to JSP files, are the changes reflected without redeploying the application?
