I Downloaded and installed okay the ME4S plugin for STS 2.5.0M3, but I cannot find where to go to download ME4S 8.6.1 (for Mac). All I can find is a link to download 8.6 (for Mac). My second question is that I found out about 8.6.1 accidentally. Is there a mailing list I can join to be informed whenever something new happens in the MyEclipse world?

    Robert,

You can download ME4S for Mac from http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html
Please accept the license agreement and click on the download link for MyEclipse for Spring 8.6.
This will redirect you to the next page with links to download ME4S all-in-one installer for Mac.

    Hope this helps.

    Best.

    Thanks for the response Joy!

    Robert,
To add some color to Joy’s response, and to provide more info for others who may be looking at this thread:

    – ME4S Plug-in for STS is only available as plug-ins, and that works on all OS platforms. You can find the Update Site in the URL Joy mentioned.

    – Currently, to get 8.6.1 for ME4S (non-STS), you will first need to download 8.6, and then go to the Software and Configuration perspective and apply the 8.6.1 update which should show up automatically.

    Hope this helps further clarify.
    Kind regards,
    Dave

    Thank you Joy and Dave,

I followed your instructions and applied the 8.6.1 update to my existing installation of 8.6. The upgrade worked but there were two things worth mentioning. First, when it asked me if it was okay to restart and I answered “yes”, it shut down ME4S but did not re-start it. So, I started ME4S myself and it came up okay. Second, after the upgrade when I go to “About MyEclipse for Spring” it displays the version as 8.6 even though it is really 8.6.1.

I next tried following the direction in the YouTube video from memory. First I made a new MyEclipse for Spring Customization project and made a visual change so I would know if it worked. Then I made a new CRUD MVC scaffold but could not find any place to specify that I wanted to use the customization. So, I watched the YouTube video again and saw that it said to first completely generate the CRUD MVC web app and then go back and re-generate it all over again from scratch using the same options, but first go into properties and change the MyEclipse customization to point to that Customization project.

The problem was, I couldn’t remember the exact settings I had used the first time and set a few of them differently the second time. As a result it experienced some problems when I ran it.

You can see where I am going with this. My question is, “Is there any way to specify the customization project to use *before* I do the CRUD scaffold so that I can avoid the need to re-scaffold?”.

Incidentally, I am typing this post from the “Internet Cafe” at the SpringOne 2GX conference in Chicago. It’s been a great conference so far.

    Hi Robert,

You can definitely specify the customization project before scaffolding. In fact, that’s how the new customization tutorial is written.

In short, there are a couple items to note when applying a customization project:
    – To apply customizations to a single project: Project > Properties > MyEclipse > Customization
    – To apply customizations to the entire workspace (all projects): Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Spring Code Generator > Customization

Stay tuned for another new tutorial on customization that walks through packaging and sharing customizations.

Let me know if this helps.

Have a great time at springOne! We wish we were there, as you may have noticed with skywaysoftware’s tweets 🙂

    Kind regards,
    Dave
