ssquire,
Yes you can use Derby to build an enterprise small application.
Let us know if you have any issues. |

The version of Derby that came pre-installed with MyEclipse v. 10 is from December, 2006.
Apache Derby Network Server - 10.2.2.0 - (485682) shutdown at 2011-12-17 18:54:59.688 GMT
Our team needs an updated version ASAP... any suggestions? |

Marvin,
We will be updating the integrated Derby version, but there is no reason you should be forced to use it right now.
You can download the latest version of Derby and install it on your system as you would do for any other database. Then start the server and create a driver for it in our DB Browser.
Please let me know if you need further assistance. |

Agreed.
However, there are three compelling features that cause me to recommend MyEclipse vs. native eclipse.
1. Configuration Center (Pulse integration)
2. Tomcat (Integrated Server)
3. Derby (Integrated Server... although I'd prefer postgreSQL)
Given this version of a cost benefit analysis, it is absolutesly critical that the integrated Tomcat and Derby servers be kept current.
Said another way, keeping these integrated tools current is far more important to me than any other feature offered by MyEclipse. |

Marvin,
Thanks for your feedback; we haven't had users specifically comment on how important our integrated servers have been. Updating the servers is not difficult, however this has repercussions on other features and examples that are shipped with MyEclipse so it is a slightly more involved process. We do intend to update them for the 10.1 release though. |
