Post subject: Installing 2 versions of MyEclipseBlue on same PC  PostPosted: Feb 02, 2012 - 06:19 AM

Hi,

Currently, I have an older version of MyEclipseBlue installed on my PC. I would like to download the latest version of MyEclipseBlue and install it on the same PC. Would this cause any conflict?

hahagal ,

You can have more than one version of MyEclipse installed in your PC. You do not have to uninstall the older one. The latest release can be installed alongside your current one.

Let us know if you see any issues.

Could you provide me with the link to download the latest MyEclipse Blue as well as the link on how to migrate from RAD 6 to the latest MyEclipse Blue?

hahagal,

Here is the link to download MyEclipse Blue 10 :
http://myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Recommend_Us&req=Download&version=MEBlue

Here is the tutorial for RAD to ME Blue migration :
http://www.myeclipseide.com/documentation/quickstarts/blueedition/project_migration/

The screenshots might differ as the tutorial is based on earlier versions of MyEclipse. Select MyEclipse > Enhance RAD Project to work with MyEclipse and follow the wizard.

Let us know if you see any issues.

Hi swapna,

Is there any difference between full installer and custom installer?

hahagal ,

Full installer (All-in-One installer) shall install all the features whether you need them or not.
With custom installer you can choose to install specific features you require. Custom installer gives you the ability to configure the tool suite according to your requirements.

Let us know if you see any issues.

hahagal,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

Can you answer some more questions for us ?

1) Are you migrating a project from RAD to MyEclipse Blue ? If yes then please look at this thread which discusses similar issue :
http://www.myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2-printview-t-26946-start-0.html

2) Can you please give us detail steps you are following for us to be able to replicate the issue at our end ?

3) Clear the contents of the .log file which is located at <workspace dir>/.metadata/.log. Replicate the issue and paste the contents of the .log file here for us.

Hi Swapna,

1) Yes, from RAD to MEB.. The link did not mention on how to clear the errors I mentioned.
I will provide 2 and 3 later..

Just to check currently, our RAD is using websphere 6.. can we use the enhance RAD project to work with MEB and websphere 6.1 for migration?

Hi Swapna,

2) - Open a new workspace, add Websphere 6.1 server
- Import RAD projects (Web, EJB, EAR) to workspace
- Right click Web project, properties, library tab, set the websphere JRE, and compiler to 1.5
- Disconnect the projects
- Enhance the Web project to work with MEB, but prompt to enhance EAR instead. Proceed with the suggestion

3) See attached

Hi Swapna,

I somehow managed to get it to work.. A few things would need to clarify.

1) When I enhance the EAR project, it will auto enhance the EJB and Web project as well.. which also added the JSF capabilities (MyEclipse > Project Capabilites > Add JSF capabilites). Doesn't this auto add the html_basic.tld and jsf_core.tld to /WEB-INF/ location? I need to manually add the 2 files to the /WEB-INF/ location then it solve the error..

2) I have this error "Cannot return from outside a function or method." In my JSP, my code is like this onclick="return func_1(this, event);".. func_1 is in the JSP as well.

3) I set the EJB compiler to prompt as Warning for unused imports.. but it still came out as Error..

hahagal,

I'm glad you got it working.

I've put your first point to the development team and we'll hopefully get an answer for you.

Your second point is a programming issue. You'll get better support on that at a web programming site. However, at a guess, you can't return from an event handler because that will be executed inside system code. The message says you can only use a return statement inside a function or method.

Your third point isn't clear. Could you provide more information on the problem and what you did to try to solve it?
