    Hi!

Congratulations for the Web Development Tutorial Part I & II. These two parts are a valuable quick start to use efficiently myeclipseide (and I must say that I enjoy using it:)).

I wonder if there are any plans for a basic EJB Development Tutorial ?
I am an experienced Java based webapps developper but I only have a theoric knowledge of EJBs so I am feeling a bit lost with starting using myEclipseIDE for EJBs dev… Any advise ?

    Thanks.
    Fred.

All good news, and we love to hear it. In fact, I like it so much I quoted it just so it’s in two postings and not just one. 😉

Yes, there are, along with some downloadable example applications. Unfortunately, we’re resource constrained at the moment and the same guys do both the tutorials and the code development. So, they have to pick what they work on and you can imagine how their priorities fall, unless management intervenes.

Well, I’d saw you first need to get a good theoretical understanding of EJB’s, and a good book is key for that. You might try both “Mastering EJB’s” by Ed Roman et al. and “Bitter EJB” by Bruce Tate et. al. This is will give you a full overview of the technology and the right and wrong ways to apply it. As for the EJB support in MyEclipse, it’s all XDoclet-based so I’d recommend the MyEclipse User Guide topics: XDoclet Overview (in the Getting Started section) and Working with Enterprise Java Beans (in the Tasks section). In the EJB topic there’s a visual walkthrough of creating an EJB and generating the code and deployment descriptors with XDoclet. That should get you started.
