i just upgraded from 9.1 to 10. However, now, when trying to open a html, xml or xhtml file, I get the following error instead of the source:
Could not open the editor: Argument not valid

    The details are:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Argument not valid

    Jean-Marie,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

    1) Can you share your OS and version details ?

    2) Can you please switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persists ?

    3) If you are still seeing the issue , then can you please try a reinstall / repair of MyEclipse?

    a) If you have installed MyEclipse 10 through Pulse explorer then please follow these steps ::

    1. Download pulse from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Open pulse explorer and select “Eclipse Indigo” in the top left corner. Your profile should be listed under My Profiles.
    3. Select your profile, right click on it and from the context menu select “Re-install and Run”.

    b) If you have installed MyEclipse through the All-In-One installer downloaded then you need to double click on the installer file. You would be given 4 options. You could choose to repair MyEclipse 10 profile.

Let us know how this works for you.

    Thank you for your reply.

Answers are below. But what puzzles me is that it was working prior to the upgrade, using the all-in-one installer (myeclipse-10.0-offline-installer-windows)
I am now trying to repair and will provide another update.

What is interesting is that running the installer and selecting repair, the 2 available choices are : Fix Existing and Revert to 10.0

I did install 10.0 last week. Is the new installer a new update?
Anyway, I selected Fix Existing but still get:

Could not open the editor: The editor class could not be instantiated. This usually indicates a missing no-arg constructor or that the editor’s class name was mistyped in plugin.xml.

ps. I still have version 9.x installed. I do not have this JSF Designer problem with this version, using the same workspace.

    Jean-Marie,

Your errors all seem to point to a corrupt install, I’m not sure why the repair option did not work for you. From your install data, it looks like you’ve installed the 32 bit version of MyEclipse (64-bit on windows does not have the visual designers) – please confirm if this is not the case.

Instead of choosing the repair option when you run the installer, choose the “install another” option and install another profile of MyEclipse instead, in a new location. Also, try using a new workspace as a test.

Note – the Revert to 10.0 option simply indicates that it will reset your instance to the state it would have been at when first installed – any additional software or updates you may have applied will be removed.

Please let us know if this works.
