My friend shared his MyEclipse with me. I received an email with the invitation id. Where should I use that ID?

"Accept Invite action from the Collaboration tab of the Software and Workspace Center"

How can I do it. In the collaboration tab, there is not facility to enter the invitation ID....

Also, please help me with the required steps to achieve collaboration.

shanumas,

In the collaboration tab of the Software and Workspace Center, there should be a panel titled "Accept an Invitation". Click on the box containing xxxx-yyy-zzzz and you will be able to enter your invitation ID.

The sample screen below is from a Linux installation; yours may look slightly different.

Please let us know if this helps.

shanumas,

You don't see the accept invitation section because I see that you've already shared your own profile (MyEclipse installation) and so that can't be transformed into the profile you have an invite for. There are three ways you can approach this:

  1. The email containing the invitation should have a link that will initiate the installation of the shared profile.
  2. You can install another clean copy of MyEclipse (this can be installed alongside your current profile) and then accept the invitation from the Collaboration tab as shown in my earlier post.
  3. You can install Pulse, available from www.poweredbypulse.com/download.php (look for the "Your Eclipse IDE Management" section). When you start Pulse, you'll see a section, "MyProfiles" with a green tick icon which can be used to accept invitations:

Done! I successfully accepted the invitation. What is the next step? I thought, that the shared project will be loaded automatically. It did not!!!

shanumas,

How did you accept the profile? If it was through Pulse, then you now have to install the profile. Just double click it or select the profile, right-click, and select install and run. If it was accepted through a new MyEclipse installation then you may have to apply changes.
