    Trying to evaluate MyEclipse Blue.

    Experienced with RAD755.

Interested in using wizards to create Spring-WS service to access Derby database.

Found MyEclipse for Spring Bootcamp (2 of 5) – General Purpose Spring Tools.
The begining of this tutorial discusses how to get a project setup for Spring.
It states that this is done by right clicking on the project, going to the MyEclipse menu and selecting the Add Spring Capabilities.

    3 questions:
Where is this Add Spring Capabilities in MyEclipse Blue?

Should I use a different tutorial for MyEclipse Blue?

Is there a netter tutorial for quickly creating a Websphere 7 web service using Spring-WS and Derby iusing a wizard and as few customizations and/or keystrokes as possible,

    Thank you.

    Simon,

Sorry for the delayed response. I will answer a number of your questions here:

    1) Given that you need WebSphere support, the product you are looking for is Bling, not Spring, Blue or Pro. Bling combines the Spring features that are part o MyEclipse for Spring with the Blue features in Blue.

    2) There is no 2013 release of Bling / Spring yet – there were a large number of changes that went into the 2013 release of MyEclipse and we are bringing those changes into the Spring / Bling products right now, we expect this to be available in a couple of months. However, the 10.x versions of Spring and Bling remain fully supported.

    3) You have been using the 2013 release of MyEclipse while following the tutorials of the MyEclipse for Spring product, hence the missing menu items. Do download Bling 10.x and the tutorials will now make sense.

    4) I’m assuming the error you see regarding org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSource is a missing class (could you please paste the exact error message?) During the scaffolding process you should see a number of containers, perhaps you did not select this one. You can add the missing container from Project Properties > Java Build Path, Libraries tab > Add Library > MyEclipse for Spring Libraries and then select the “Apache Commons DBCP 1.3 LIbraries”.

If you have any further questions or need further clarification, please post them here.
