    Hi,

I’m trying to create a web service for WebSphere 6.1 on MyEclipse 2014. I installed WAS6.1 on my computer, configured the “WebSphere 6.1” in “WebSphere – Blue Connectors”, and imported the AppSrv01 profile.

When i click on “New Web Service” and select “JAX-WS (WebSphere) 2.0” i have the error “Target server not specified”. I clicked on “Configure target server” but i can’t select “Websphere 6.1”, the checkbox is disabled and i don’t know why!

I’ve looked everywhere and found nothing that works..

Can someone help me please ?

    Thanks!

    Belapie,

I’m sorry you’re having problems creating a web service for WebSphere 6.1. I’ve escalated the issue to our development team and hopefully we’ll have an answer for you soon.

    belapie,

We’re still looking at this. We have tightened up the checking in releases after 10.7, which is probably why WebSphere 6.1 is not available as a target, for the combination of framework versions you’re trying to use. It’s possible that we have the check wrong but it might be useful to know which versions of which frameworks you need to use in creating your web services for WebSphere 6.1.

Also, do you have the web services feature pack installed on WebSphere 6.1? What fix pack are you up to with the server?

    Hi,

Thanks you for your support, it’s really appreciated!!

Which versions of which framework? I don’t understand your question..

    WebSphere version : 6.1.0.33.

This WebSphere is already running a WebService, made by someone else 4-5 years ago. I need to create another for new features. So i guess the WS Pack Feature is installed.

If i install an older version of MyEclipse, will i be able to connect with WAS6.1?

    Thanks!

    belapie,

Thanks for that information. I was just trying to ensure that we knew what version of JAX, what Web version (e.g. J2EE5 is Web 2.5) you needed to use as there may have been some options you have for creating web services on WebSphere 6.1.

Yes, if you install MyEclipse Blue 10.7, you can create web services using the frameworks you’ve mentioned. However, I’m not sure what fix packs would be needed on WebSphere though, if you already have web services running there, with the same mix of frameworks, it should be fine. I have fix pack 47 here and ran a web service created with MyEclipse Blue 10.7.

If you have release 10.7, this would certainly be a workaround for now, until we fix the checks in release 2014. If you don’t have a release 10.7 installer, please email sales@genuitec.com and they will be able to assist you. Be sure to include your name, subscription id, subscription code, MyEclipse Blue version required, and operating system so they can provide the correct download link without delay.

    belapie,

Sorry for the late information but there does seem to be another workaround to this problem. The checks we’ve implemented in 2014 are clearly too restrictive but you can alter the Web facet by hand to allow you to set the target WebSphere server to 6.1 for the project. This is how.

Open the Navigator view, if it not already open. At the top right of the view is the View Menu arrow, click it and select Filters. Deselect the .* entry and click OK. Now open your project folder and then the .settings folder. Double click on the org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core.xml file to edit it. Change the jst.web facet to “2.4” and save the file. You should now be able to select WebSphere 6.1.

    Sorry again for the inconvenience.
