Since I installed the MyEclipse 2014 on Windows 7,
I am not able to delete any file in the project, which is other than .java type.

MyEclipse is keeping some kind of access lock to the file and when
I try to delete it, the error message is displayed:

    —————————————————————————————
An exception has been caught while processing the refactoring ‘Delete’.

    Reason:
    Problems encountered while deleting resources.
    —————————————————————————————

since the Windows system cannot delete the file, which is accessed (locked)
by some other process (In this case it is MyEclipse javaw.exe).

JVM is located in MyEclipse distribution: \Local\MyEclipse Professional 2014\binary\com.sun.java.jdk7.win32.x86_64_1.7.0.u45\bin

The workaround to the problem is:
1/ to remove the focus from the file I want to delete (click on other file)
2/ then wait about 1 minute
3/ go to Windows File Explorer, locate the file and delete it.

If I don’t wait enough, I still cannot delete the file.

    I am using:

Windows 7 Enterprise. Service Pack 1.

    MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench

    Version: 2014
    Build id: 12.0.0-20131202

    JVM: java.jdk7.win32.x86_64_1.7.0.u45

    Similar topic: https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/myeclipse-enterprise-workbench-2014-issue-with-deleting-xml/

was mentioning only .xml files, but I think it is also related to the same problem.

Please can you look into this problem, since it is annoying to use the
    workaround for longer time.

    Thank you.

    Vladimir,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue.

Can you please answer some queries to help us investigate further :
    1) Can you please clarify whether you are seeing the issue for all old and new projects ? Are you seeing the issue only for all non-java files ? Are the files just newly created in the session ? Are the files shared using any version controller such as CVS or SVN, etc ? Mention the type of project in which you are seeing the issue ? Please mention the whole scenario to help us replicate the issue at our end ?
    2) Can you please switch to a new workspace, create a new project, create a non-java file and check whether you can replicate the issue in the new workspace ? If it is working fine in the new workspace, can you please import your existing projects from the old workspace and check if you can replicate the issue ?
    3) Can you please attach the MyEclipse installation details from MyEclipse > Installation summary > Installation details ?
    4) Please attach the .log file located at <Workspace dir>/.metadata/.log file to help us investigate further.

    Hi Pradeep,

    1) Can you please clarify whether you are seeing the issue for all old and new projects ?

I see this issue on all (old and new) projects.

Are you seeing the issue only for all non-java files ?

Yes .java files I can delete. Others were problem.

Are the files just newly created in the session ?

No they are existing and newly created.

Are the files shared using any version controller such as CVS or SVN, etc ?

They are share in all but one projects. I have 1 project which is not share yet
and the behaviour is the same,

Mention the type of project in which you are seeing the issue ?

They are all Web Projects. (Spring + Hibernate)

Please mention the whole scenario to help us replicate the issue at our end ?

The scenario is described in my original post.

    2) Can you please switch to a new workspace, create a new project, create a non-java file and check whether you can replicate the issue in the new workspace ?

I created a new project in an old work space. I can delete all files there. If I copy the file into old project I cannot remove it.

If it is working fine in the new workspace, can you please import your existing projects from the old workspace and check if you can replicate the issue ?

I have an account on Windows without an admin privileges to the machine. MyEclipse was install by this unprivileged user in the local directory. On Friday I reinstalled the MyEclipse as an administrator directly on C:/ drive. It looks like newly created project (even in old work space) is working fine.

So maybe you wait with the investigation until I research this new situation.

    Have a good day.

    Hi Pradeep,

I have created new project in the new workspace. At the beginning I can delete any file.

As soon as I add Spring Facet to the project, problem with deleting start.

So it is not related to the way how the MyEclipse is installed as I was thinking at the end of my last post.

You may try to reproduce the problem with adding the Spring Facet.

    Have a nice day.

    Vladimir,

Thanks for the details provided. We could replicate the issue at our end. I have filed a bug report for the dev team to investigate on this.

Regarding the workaround you mentioned in your original post, I could suggest you to right click on the project > select MyEclipse > select Open in Explorer, which is a quicker way than opening explorer and navigating to the right folder and file.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
