    Hello,
i am using MyEclipse Blue Edition 2014. Our company has was 8.5 server and ibm http server as well. at past we (coders) wrote our codes in websphere development studio client. we seperate our static and dynamic applications so we have to publish static products to the http server manually. as in the same workspace it is difficult to give sam project name to the static and dynamic project at the same time so we give XXXX project to the dynamic project, and XXXXWeb to the static project. As we publish this static project to the http server, we have to make the project name same as the dynamic one to see the static documents in the dynamic links. So in websphere ide when we add the static project to the ibm http in the ide, it is easy to rename or give alias to the XXXXWeb project as XXXX so the names are same in dynamic and static project and when we publish the XXXXWeb project to the htdocs from our websphere ide, its name will be XXXX and there will be no problem on static documents the links are not broken.
But in MyEclipse when we try to publish our XXXXWeb to the http server, we could not give alias to change the project name to publish. We have to go tothe folder htdocs and manually change the name. Its hard and also sometimes our coders forget this . Could u help us about this topic. I am waiting your reply. Thanks.

    korayparlar,

Sorry you are having trouble publishing the static content in the way you want. I have raised an enhancement request to better support this situation.

I’m not sure how you are publishing your web project to the HTTP server but this process may be suitable:

    • Go to Window->Preferences->General->Capabilities then click the Advanced button and enable WTP Extras after expanding MyEclipse Standard Tools. Click OK.
    • Open the WTP Servers view (Window->Show View->Other then select Server->WTP Servers)
    • In the WTP Servers view, right click and select New->Server; select Basic->HTTP Server and fill in the details as appropriate then click Next to fill in the publishing folder then click next to fill in the port number. Click Finish (this wizard may appear different if you’ve already created a server).
    • Create a new project via New->Other->Web->Static Web Project. On the project wizard fill in the details and click Next to set the context root. This will, effectively be the folder name for publishing the static content. It can be altered by right clicking the project, selecting properties and then going to the Web Project Settings page.
    • To publish, go to the WTP Servers view, right click on the server added earlier and click Add and Remove. Here you can add projects to be published. At any subsequent time, you can right click on the server and select Publish.
    • If you need the content to be published a further level down (a folder under the context root folder), you can use the MyEclipse->Deployment Assembly project properties page – just double click Deploy Path value.

Note that you’ll see a “Servers” project after you create a WTP server, though this can be safely ignored.

Note, also, that the publishing folder path can be altered in the Runtime Environment used by the server.

You may already be doing much of this but I wanted to make sure that I explained this process in case it was new to you. If you are using this general process, it may be that all you need to do is alter the context root on the Web Project Settings project properties page, to get your static content published correctly.

I hope this helps, please let us know if it is of use or if you have more questions.

    Hi –

I am configuring HTTP server for publishing static web content in MyEclipse Blue 2014. When I configure the server in the following step,

“In the WTP Servers view, right click and select New->Server; select Basic->HTTP Server and fill in the details as appropriate then click Next to fill in the publishing folder then click next to fill in the port number. Click Finish (this wizard may appear different if you’ve already created a server). ”

I am not getting the option of choosing publishing local folder. Can you please help me on this.?

    Thanks,
    Raajee
