In the Configuration center I added a local site and selected 2 items.
The site name now shows up in My Software and it found two things to install.
When I tried to install it there were conflicts an I realized I should only have selected one.

However, I can find no way to remove the second item from Software Updates Available and the Remove option is disabled on the site in My Software!!!

*** How the heck do I remove things? ***

I must say that the design of this Configuration Center is one of the worst and most frustrating things in ME. It is VERY confusing and difficult to use (and seemingly buggy).

I am using ME 10.7.1 which was installed as 10.5 using the all-in-one and upgraded to 10.7.1.

    flawlor,

Thanks for updating to MyEclipse 10.7.1.

You need to first remove all the plugin related components that are added to the profile and then only you can remove the plugin.

Please take a look at the screenshot for your visual reference.

If you are still facing any issues, can you please attach the screenshot of the issue (Remove option disabled) to help us visualise the issue ? Also, please mention which plugin you were trying to install ?

The MyEclipse Configuration Center is no longer part of 2013 or future releases. Most Configuration Center capabilities are now easily accessible from the MyEclipse Help menu. So, I suggest you to download and install MyEclipse 2013 / 2014 alongside your existing MyEclipse 10.7.1 installation and give it a try. If you are already holding a license for MyEclipse, then the same license can be used for MyEclipse 2013 / 2014 too, as our licenses are time based not version based.

    flawlor,

In the Configuration center I added a local site and selected 2 items.

You mentioned that you have added a local site and added two components to the profile. You need to remove those two components from the profile (under ‘My Software’ section by right clicking on the components and select ‘Remove’) and then only ‘Remove’ option will be enabled for ‘Eclipse RTC client’.

For your convenience, please see the attached screenshot. (1), (2) you could see that BPEL is a plugin that is added from local site and I have added ‘BPEL commons’ and ‘BPEL Runtime adapter for apache’ to the profile. (3) You could see that the two components(that are added to the profile) and the BPEL plugin is listed under ‘My Software’ section. To remove BPEL plugin, you need to remove ‘BPEL commons’ and ‘BPEL Runtime adapter for apache’ components first and then only ‘Remove’ option will be enabled for ‘BPEL’ plugin.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, that did it.

Just to clarify for anyone else running into this, since the above is not a very clear explanation: Adding Eclipse RTC Client also put some other dependent components into My Software that I didn’t even notice.

The disabled remove option was due to the need to remove those other components first. This is typical of the poor usability of the Configuration center that it gives not a clue as to why remove is disabled or what the dependencies are. It is also annoying that there is one “add” which added them all, but there isn’t one remove to remove them all.
