    Hi there.
    As I know there is a file->export… wizard for the exporting solution, but that is only used to export the “project” specific settings. My question is how could I export the “workspace” specific settings and migrate it to another workspace? I understand that it is supposed to only having one workspace out there with different projects inside, but in our work we have to get the whole workspace from SVN every time we start a new project, then I have to manually set lots of preference again, the repetitive work is quiet tiring and inefficient. Is there a decent way to export the workspace level settings?
    I appreciate your suggestion in advance!

    lewisse,

    You can use import/export to gather all workspace preferences/settings from MyEclipse. From the menu bar select File > Export. In the new window that opens go to General > Preferences > Next and follow the wizard to export your preferences to a .epf file. Similarly you can use “Import” to get all the preferences into the new workspace.

    Hope this helps and let us know how it works for you.

    Thanks pradeep, but it does not help. The functionality of export wizard is very limited. Every time I configure for a new workspace, I will get through these steps as follows:

    General –> Startup and Shutdown;
    general –> editors –> Text Editors –> spelling;
    MyEclipse –> Validation;
    MyEclipse –> Maven4MyEclipse;
    MyEclipse –> Servers –> Integrated Sandbox;
    Java –> Editor –> Typing;
    General –> Workspace,change encoding to UTF-8;
    MyEclipse –> Files and Editors –> JSP,change encoding to UTF-8;
    Change default font, font color and code styles;
    config java occurrence, coloring;
    config servers…

    The wizard cannot export or backup these settings, so every time I have to manually do these repetitive work.

    lewisse,

    You can export all those workspace preferences/settings you mentioned. To do so you need to select ‘Export All’ (which is selected by default) in the ‘Export Preferences’ Wizard, browse the ‘To Preference File’ and click Finish. Similarly you need to select ‘Import all’ while importing the preference file in the ‘Import preferences’ wizard.

    Let me know if that helps.

    Thank you pradeep, problem has been solved. I misunderstood the function of “Export all” and made an unnecessary move by selecting the specific options manually. Now it works, thank you again!
