Hi we have 2 MyEclipseforSpring licenses used in 2 laptops and 1 desktop. The Desktop and laptop is not use simultaneously. We get a message out of the blue today stating too many activations and we cannot use the product.

First of all this sucks because right now I have a developer that does nothing and you dont have phone support or a live chat for these issues so I will just have to sit here and wait for you to answer me here.

Second please tell me how to remove it and most importantly why did it show up and how it will never show up again!!!

    Zenika,

Did the message state too many activations or did it say too many users using this subscription? I suspect it is the latter, can you confirm?

Also, it should create a log entry indicating the IPs of the systems which it detects are simultaneously using the license – can you let me know what it reports there? What OS are you using – have you made any networking or OS related changes recently?

Finally, please write in to sales@genuitec.com with a link to this thread as well as your subscriber Id, we can help you further there.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

It happened when I started 2 eclipse on the same laptop. the ip on the left is my office on the right is where I am right now on the client.

I have lost in total with re installations a full working week, who will pay me back for this?

    zenica,

I’m sorry you’re having problems with this. It’s not clear what your exact situation is. Are you starting two simultaneous instances of MyEclipse on a single machine? This should be allowed. However, you mentioned different IP addresses; does your laptop have multiple connections to different networks? This may cause problems with the license checker.

Does closing one of the instances not solve this problem and allow you to continue working?

How did you resolve the issue in August?

Again the same! I did not resolve it, I had to re-install everything! Now I have again the same problems because I changed my ip! I have a consultant company and I have consultants that take laptops and run around in different networks! I am paying for a bloody software that has failed me 6 times within the year and now again I have to delete it and re-install it!

Really I’ve had it! I want my money back for all my licences and I am switching to NetBeans or Something else!

    zenika,

I’m sorry you’re having this intermittent experience but we don’t have a lot of information for us to try to resolve this.

We really need more details of the environment and the errors you’re receiving, otherwise it is very difficult for us to investigate. I responded to the previous incidents but you didn’t reply in either case. As a result, each time, I assumed you’d resolved it satisfactorily yourself.

From the posts, it seems as though, most of the time, you don’t have an issue and then, all of a sudden, you keep getting an error. Could you describe this situation in detail?

What is the actual error message? Please clear the error log, replicate the error and then attach the resultant error log so we can see if it contains useful information to help us track it down. A screenshot of the error would also be helpful.

When the error occurs, which machines are running under your license and in which networks?

What operating system are you running the instances on? If you could provide the information found at MyEclipse->Installation Summary->Installation Details (not the installation details from the About dialog), for each instance, that would be helpful.

If this only happens intermittently (from reading this thread, it seems that you run for a while OK and then hit the problem) can you think of anything that is different between running OK and getting the error?

it’s difficult to understand why reinstalling would cure this problem, even if only for a while. You might want to try deleting the .myeclipse.properties file (from the user’s home folder) and entering the subscription details again. I realise you shouldn’t even have to do that but, if it works, would be a preferable workaround to re-installing, especially if you have any third party plug-ins.

Please send me a Private Message with the Subscriber name and the Subscription code (from MyEclipse->Subscription Information) for all licenses that you are using so that we can check if there is something amiss with the licenses.

If there is any other information that you think might be useful, please add it and we’ll try to get to the bottom of this.

    zenika,

Just checking back on this topic, you did post a screenshot in August. This answers one of the questions I’ve been asking, that it is not a problem of too many activations but too many simultaneous uses for the license. The license details that you provided show a single user license, so it’s expected that running with the same single user license on multiple machines in the network will generate the error. If you have multiple licenses and wish to combine them into a single multi-user license, please write into sales as Brian mentioned early on, with the details of what you require. Otherwise please provide the requested details for us to investigate.
