    I am using this:

    MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench

    Version: 2015 CI
    Build id: 13.0.0-20141008

And as of this version as a change from previous versions the View toolbars are hidden until you hover over them. (See attached). I use the toolbar dozens and dozens of times a day and I would like them to be always visible. No amount of Googling or study the configuration options has led me to an option that will keep them visible.

Is there such an option and how to I set it?

    Thanks,
    Roland

    Roland,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. I could not replicate the issue at my end.

Can you please update to MyEclipse 2015 CI 10 , switch to a new workspace and check if the issue persists ? Go to Help > Check for Updates and update to the latest release.

If the issue persists, please attach a screenshot of the IDE, instead of the cropped part along with the OS and version details to help us investigate further. Also check if you see any errors of interest logged in the .log file which is located at <workspace dir>/.metadata/.log. If yes, then please attach the .log file as well.

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

    MyEclipse is now:

    MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench
    Version: 2015 CI 10
    Build id: 13.0.0-20150115

I tried a new workspace, but it made no difference. However, one interesting thing that I noticed is that the toolbars show below the window frame in the Java perspective. This is what the documentation says they are supposed to do when they won’t fit in the space available in the window border. However, in the debug perspective they do not show until you hover over the square in the window border. This behavior was same regardless of whether I was using the brand new workspace or my own previous workspace. I would prefer them in the window frame, but I would be happy with them below if that was possible.

    Screenshots are attached.

    Roland,

Thanks for the information. Although we couldn’t replicate the issue on Windows or a Mac, I was able to see the issue on Ubuntu 14.04. We don’t see the issue on Ubuntu 14.10, so, if that is an option for you, upgrading Ubuntu might be the best route.

    Failing that, the workarounds are:

    • Reduce the size of the space to the right of the relevant tab. This can be done by either reducing the width of the panel holding the view, until the toolbar icons appear within the view. Or it can be done by adding views to that panel, so the that tabs reduce the width of the free space next to the tabs (for example add the MyEclipse Explorer view will go into the same panel as the Package Explorer view). Views may also be dragged from panel to panel.
    • Go to Window->Preferences->General->Appearance and alter the theme to something other than a MyEclipse theme (for example, Classic or GTK theme). Then restart the workbench. If this doesn’t fix it, try a new workspace and switch the theme followed by a restart.
    • Go to Window->Preferences->General->Appearance->MyEclipse Light Themes. Then click the Parts tab and the Layout sub-tab. Change the Tab Height to some higher value (e.g. 40) and click Apply, then OK. You may need to restart MyEclipse after this change.

Apologies for the inconvenience. It’s difficult to catch these obscure issues when they are inconsistent across different versions of different Linux distributions. I hope one of these workarounds is suitable. Please let us know how you get on.

Thank you very much. Changing the tab height was exactly the sort of solution I was looking for. After I changed it to 32 and applied the change the Toolbar appeared. In fact, I changed it back to the default minimum of 31 and applied that change and the ToolBar remains visible even after restarting MyEclipse. Problem solved.

    Roland,

Thanks for getting back to us. That is odd, being able to change the value back to the default and still not see the problem. More investigation is needed!

Glad to see you’re all set. Let us know if you see any more issues.
