We have been experiencing a 10 second freeze in one, only one, JS file in our project. If you are actively working it regularly pauses every few minutes.

It isn’t the largest file, but it is one that contains the deepest inheritance hierarchy.

We have experienced this pause since upgrading from MyEclipse 10, we have developers on 2013, 2014, and 2015. All experience the pause. Right now we turn off content assist for JavaScript. Not having content assist hasn’t been enough of a problem to make us really want to solve the problem, nor really complain about it.

Anyway, the reason I posted here is that it looks like Eclipse has fixed a similar bug and I was wondering if this fix might fix our problem:

    https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=433515

Is this fix in a component used by MyEclipse? If so, when might we expect that this fix would drop in and how would we get it?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. I have escalated it to the dev team. They will get back to you soon.

    Thanks for your patience.

Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention.

We’d like to fix this in the 2015 stream, if possible, so would like to know your experiences with this version of MyEclipse. At this point, we can’t be too sure that the fix you referenced would solve your specific problem, but we’ll investigate it, nevertheless.

    1) What version of MyEclipse 2015 are you using, exactly? (See Help > About)
    2) Is the problem completely fixed if you turn off content assist?
    3) https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/troubleshooting-performance-issues-in-myeclipse-2015/ is a new FAQ for 2015 which talks about excluding some files from being processed by Tern. If you follow those instructions to exclude just this file or folder (and restart MyEclipse to be sure) – do you still see the problem with content assist on / off?
    4) If you copy the file into another dummy web project and place it in the webroot, do you still experience the problem? (wondering if it’s slow because of the additional context in your project or because of the complexity with that same file)
If it does exhibit problems even in a standalone project – would it be possible for you to send us just this file? You could email it to support@genuitec.com and mark it ATTN Brian with a link to this thread.

We have another 2015 release coming up shortly and it would be great if we could include a fix for this problem.

    Thanks.

    Hi Brian,

I’m happy to report I cannot reproduce the problem on Version: 2015 CI 11

    Thanks for your help.

    Joe,

That’s great! You did mention you had tried 2015 before though, any idea what version of 2015 you were seeing the problem in?

    Best,
    Brian.
