    The latest release of the MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench, version 3.8.0 GA for Eclipse 3.0, is now available for immediate download. This is a very significant release that establishes parity with many tier-1 J2EE IDEs by offering world-class source editing and visual development capabilities. In continuing with our tradition of assimilating, integrating and enhancing open source and open standards, the MyEclipse source editors have been rebuilt by incorporating and enhancing a recent source code contribution from IBM. In addition, this new release of MyEclipse also includes an enormous number of enhancements and bug fixes, thus making 3.8.0 GA a solid Enterprise J2EE solution that everyone can afford to use.

    MyEclipse 3.8.0 GA includes the following feature additions and improvements:

    New HTML, CSS and JavaScript editors Smart code completion and syntax highlighting
    – Integrated outline edit view with insert/delete/move node capabilities
    – Integrated editable properties view
    – Open-On feature for selected text entity such as linked CSS and Javascript files

    Visual HTML Designer provides WYSIWYG development, real-time preview mode, and round trip source code generation.

    New JSP source editor support JSP 2.0 (tagfiles support will be added shortly)
    – Supports breakpoints in both JSP files and included fragments
    – JSP Preview that depicts Struts HTML tags
    – Integrated outline view with insert/delete/move node capabilities
    – Integrated editable properties view
    – Open-On feature for selected text entity such as JSP fragments, Java classes, linked CSS and Javascript files
    – File level validation and error marking
    – Real-time validation and error marking “as you type”
    – Ability to edit any JSP file regardless of directory location

    New XML and XSD editors
    – Support for XSL and DTD design
    – User-extensible XML DTD/Schema catalog
    – Code completion and syntax highlighting for DTD-based or XSD-based documents
    – Formatting and real time validation “as you type”
    – Integrated outline view with insert/delete/move node capabilities
    – Integrated editable properties view
    – Graphical editing for XSD files
    – Create example XML document for any XSD file
    – Validation for HTML, XML, XSD, DTD, JSP, XSL and XMI files

    J2EE 1.4 (JSTL 1.1 support will be added shortly)

    Database Explorer including new DB perspective, 25 DB-JDBC connector profiles, SQL editor with code completion, SQL query evaluation/testing and numerous usability enhancements:
    – Preserving explorer tree expansion state on refresh and table select
    – Quick refresh of selecting tables in explorer or connections in connection Info view
    – Improved project integration
    – Supports multiple table selection

    Multi-platform browser, TCP/IP monitor and Internet proxy

    Hibernate development tools with productivity wizards, code generation, and DB Explorer connector integration. Key features include:
    – Generation of Hibernate mapping files and corresponding Java classes directly from Database Explorer table selections
    – Simplified project and package selection for generated classes and mapping files
    – Support for composite ids and one-to-many relationships with other mapped objects
    – Designate a custom base persistence class for all generated classes
    – Regenerate mapped classes at any time to synchronize with database schema changes
    – Update previously configuration file with auto-generated mappings
    – Code generation is accomplished using flexible and customizable Velocity templates
    – Generated Hibernate configuration file and SessionFactory reflect proper runtime classpath-relative locations

    Struts designer providing graphical drag-n-drop, web flow design, and customized grid/snap/nodes that is synchronized with Struts configuration file source

    Java Server Faces (JSF 1.1) project support

    Sun Java System Application Server Connector

    Smart Dependent Project Deployment

    New project flexibility now enables web project to serve as as the web-context root

    Snippet catalog with included library of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSP, Struts, and JSF snippets

    Image previewer/browser presents fast thumbnail sized view of images in gif, jpg, png, bmp, and ico formats.

    Reorganized MyEclipse Preferences for increased ease of use

    Ability to force Eclipse garbage collection to reduce runtime memory requirements

    Over 100 other fixes and enhancements
