The jboss-ide uses a very elegant way to define several jboss instances as launch configurations. This approach has the advantage to have many different configurations of the same application server. For example you can have many jboss 3 server configurations. The current myeclipse implementation only allows one.
It would be very usefull to implement or integrate this kind of functionality.

The 'server navigator' / 'log file viewer' feature of the jboss-ide plugin are also very usefull features. Especally server navigator shows you all the configured servers and it acts as a global management console. It is an eclipse view so it is very convinient because you can dock it anywhere or make it a fast view that it always available.

It would be very cool if you could join forces with the guys at jboss-ide and enchance it to handle other server types that myeclipse handles.

We really like this idea. We have talked about it at length especially support for multiple server instances and use of launch configurations. Most likely we will assist with the Eclipse Web Tools project or (whatever they call it) to help define and implement the universal server connector model that will become the eventual Eclipse standard. MyEclipse is committed to defining, promoting, and supporting standards as opportunities arise.
