I have just upgrade one of my PC with Eclipse 3.0.1 and your latest release 3.8.3 GA for directly testing the ER-Designer.

I follow your quickstart guide and all work fine !

I presume you use RCP technology with GEF and Draw2D API.

The Reverse Engineering functionality works very well, but i’m a little disappointed with the JPG export because i can’t export just my selected tables to obtain just a JPG screenshot of some interesting tables and not all the tables !
Could this functionality be implemented in the next release ?

The best will be to create a data model graphically, using visual component on a flyout palette and a functionality to generate sql script for creating the database.
Have a look at this url:
    http://www.eclipse.org/articles/Article-GEF-editor/gef-schema-editor.html

When do you think you will deliver a release containing these graphical functionlities ?

    Thanks for your reactivity.

    You presume correct.

Interesting suggestion… I will file it for our devs to look at.

We aren’t done enhancing the ER Designer 😛

When do you think you will deliver a release containing these graphical functionlities ?

We should update the Roadmap soon, sorry for the delay.

I find out that you use “Aston wizard” plug-in for creating file templates (jsp, servlet…) and “JFaceDbc” plug-in for you “MyEclipse Database Explorer”.

Concerning “MyEclipse Database Explorer” plug-in and its SQL Editor it corresponds exactly to the “JFaceDbc” SQL Editor, but why don’t you also use the “JFaceDbc” SQL Schema Visualizer which provides a good wizard for reverse engineering a database permitting to select only the tables we are interested in !!!

It will be an excellent idea if you can integrate this functionality in your ER-Designer !

    Thanks.
