Can someone explain to me the point of having the next version of MyEclipse if it does not support the newest version of Eclipse??? I mean, if you went through the trouble of getting 3.8.4 to work with 3.1M6, why lock 4.0 to 3.0 Eclipse?

Actually, one of our QA Board (Rob Varga) explained it very well in his last post in this thread:

We’ll have 3.1 support for 4.0M2, now that Eclipse has *finally* frozen their APIs

    Scott,

I would still knock three on a wooden board upwards from the bottom, before saying Eclipse has frozen the API. 🙂

As far as I remember, there were some biting changes between 3.0RC? and 3.0 Final due to which you had to release a new version (or a quickfix?).

    Regards,

    Robert

    Robert,

Your memory is correct, as usual. 🙂

From “Eclipse by the Numbers” (http://eclipse.org/eclipse/development/eclipse_3_0_stats.html):
API changes after the “official” API freeze (May 7): 49

eclipse API freeze is joke – they change internal API and almost all plugins (original IBM plugins too) use internal plugins
version m6 was api freeze, too, but we get too amny changes

    regards
