I have not been using MyEclipse as much as I expected. The main reason is that MyEclipse requires me to set up the project as MyEclipse wants it. The projects that I have been working on have their own structure and Ant tasks. We like them the way they are. 🙂

We want to be able to just check out the projects from CVS and type “ant deploy”. I hope that later version will make it easier to work with existing Ant based projects. I don’t want an “import ear-file” function. I would like to configure MyEclipse to use the existing project.

Providing more flexibility in the project structure is definately on our enhancements list exactly for this reason. We chose to standardize our projects the way we did initially simply because solving the “infinitely flexible project structure / deploy” problem would have meant we never would’ve made it to market. 🙂

Really though, if you like your project structure as it is, the only thing you really can’t use are our deployers. Our editors and server connectors will all work fine even if you handle your own deployment.

Thanks for the feedback though, it’s how we get most of our ideas for improvement. 🙂
