Post subject: Ecluding folders and files from EAR deployement  PostPosted: Sep 27, 2011 - 08:11 PM

Hi,

Is it possible to exclude files and folders in an EAR projet, from the EAR that is deployed on the server (WAS7 in our case).
We have migrated from RAD and we have some extra build files and folders in the EAR project that RAD used to not deploy in the EAR, but now MyEclipse does.

Thank you

aliapo ,

Can you give us more details about what sort of files and folders you are referring to?
Also please attach a screen-shot of the project structure for us to help get a visual.

Hi Swapna,

The structure of the EAR project has 3 extra folder on top of META-INF and lib:

RPMEAR--
-- dist
-- lib
-- meta
-- META-INF
-- properties
The reason of the extra folders are historical and it did not bother with RAD, but now that we are migrationg Blue, we need to know if we can exclude them form the deployment because the it's taken too much time to deploy/redeploy.

Thank you.

Attached is the structure of the project

aliapo,

Thank you for the details. You can set up resource filters on the project to exclude the folders. This is in the Resource > Resource Filters section of the project's properties dialog. It means those folders won't be visible in MyEclipse (though any files in the folders can be edited in MyEclipse by using the File->Open File menu) and would not be deployed too.

Let us know how it works for you.
