My Eclipse IDE 8.6.1
Installed plug-in M2ECLIPSE
http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/sites/m2e/0.10.0.20100209-0800/POM editor’s dependency hierarchy view hangs my eclipse.
POM file can be viewed in pom.xml tab, but, when clicking on dependency hierarchy tab, my eclipse starts ‘loading pom.xml …. building dependency tree’ and hangs – I have to kill the process and get back into the IDE.Warnings posted:

Sorry that you are seeing this issue. I could not replicate the issue at my end.
1. MyEclipse already has maven support integrated in the form of Maven4MyEclipse which is based on M2Eclipse. Installing M2Eclipse again to MyEclipse might result in some conflicts in some situations. Can you please try to uninstall the M2Eclipse and check if you still see the issue with the POM editor?
2. Maven support in MyEclipse has been significantly enhanced in MyEclipse 10.1 release. I suggest you update to MyEclipse 10.1 to take advantage of the same. The license you hold is still valid for 10.1 version as our licenses are time based and not version based.

Reading your explanation below, I thought of trying to re-install the m2eclipse plugin. Uninstalling and re-installing it fixed the issue for me.
