I get the message "An Error Occurred While Attempting to Prepare for Installing MyClipse". There is a reference to the file system being read-only but I am using a standard MacBook Pro Retina Display with an SSD drive.

In the Console window I am getting:

intelliobjects,

I apologize for the inconvenience caused. OS/X 10.8 (Moutain Lion) has the new Gatekeeper feature that by default requires apps to be signed and registered with Apple prior to installation. We will be going through the registration process with Apple to get registered in their new program and sign our apps using their new protocol. I would recommend you refer the workaround posted by jonebaker here http://myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-29217.html.
Also, refer this FAQ on display issues on the MacBook Pro with retina display - http://myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=29219&highlight=&sid=ae27613f2582b403b859034b9e40ec3c

Thanks for the response.

I configured Gatekeeper to allow "Any App" and I still get the same exact issue. Any further guidance?

Thanks!

intelliobjects,

With the release of the new Macbook and retina display there are a number of updates, one of which is to Java (which does not come installed by default on the Macbook). We unfortunately don't have a new Macbook with which to test, but from the error I think the issue might be that that Java install requires the update or Java has not been installed fully.

Here is an article that details a couple of the updates and where to get them. Could you please try applying the updates and letting us know if the installer will then run in that configuration with Gatekeeper set to allow "all apps".

I have the version of Java referenced in the article installed, but I am still getting the same errors.

I have other Java based tools and App Servers that are running fine so I believe my Java install is ok.

intelliobjects,

Good points regarding other Java apps working. It seems reasonable to assume that the Java installation is OK.

One other thing we can try is using the "Custom Installer" from the website versus the "Download" installer. The difference is that the "Custom Installer" is quite small and only downloads the parts of MyEclipse you choose to install, versus the entire bundle.

Since we just released MyEclipse 10.6 (and you tried with 10.5) can you please click on the "Custom Installer" link for the Mac 10.6 installer, Run that, Select what you want and see if you have issues. I included the direct link for the download for convenience.

If you do run into an error, please click the "Get Help" button in the installer. That will send us a support bundle with more information about the cause of the issue so we can analyze it. In the error report, please include your email address (so we can contact you with a fix) as well as the URL of this thread so we can follow up publicly if needed as well.
