Since the new web site came up, the My eclipse web site is just about worthless. It takes over 25 minutes to load the page, most links just get a timeout and many graphics just will not load.

I'm sure it is something to do with out network security, but if you guys are trying to market to larger organizations, then your web site should be accessable from those organization. I think your product is pretty good, but I can not longer send a link to a co-worker, nor tell anyone about it because they just can not access the site.

I can not even link to the email without network timout.

BTY - I can get to the site ok from home - but that is not exactly what I want.

thx

The only thing we changed when we rolled out the new site was moved the site over to a new set of servers with 4-5x the processing power and increased our max bandwidth at the same host we've been at this whole time.

Anytime you are seeing *that* level of ridiculous load times and not just flat out 404s, it's always indicative of some horrible hop from one network to another. If you do a tracert to us, you should see the problematic node somewhere in there.

Ok so it definately seems to be something with your corporate network... try a tracert and see where things are dying. I can't imagine that this is the first time you've had problems with websites. Maybe an overzealous network admin?

Just saw this post by you: http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=74836&highlight=#74836

Could the agent be the cause of things?

Since your website redesign the whole pages are just SLOW. Both homepage and forums. For me it makes no difference if accessing from home, or from the customers corporate network (I'm saying only this: a global one...). When you "moved to a new set of servers" you haven't done yourself a favour, because the old site was leaner too. Let me show you how I saw your homepage fifteen minutes ago from Germany (one month ago I had already prepared similar screenshots but thought it wasn't worth the time, now I'm fed up):

And this is a very often encountered picture while replying in the forums:

(I just hate this forum software: where's the "Edit post" button gone?)

PS
I wanted to add the following to above screenshots: please note that not all page artefacts have been downloaded (dropped connections?), some of the requested images haven't been loaded! So most of the time the page looks incomplete.

vict0r,
I agree those numbers are way too long to provide a decent experience of the web site.

Out of curiosity are you using a page-accelerator like Fasterfox? We *do* have server rules that if a single IP address requests more than 8 connections at once, we start timing out and closing those connections, which is the behavior you see with a page-accelerator or heaving caching mechanisms.

Yes, FasterFox, but it is set to "Courteous" == "Rendering tweaks only, does not increase web server load". Hmm...

What happens if you pop open Internet Explorer and view the site? Does it behave differently?

Then what happens if you go back to Firefox, turn *off* faster fox, then restart Firefox and come back to the site? Does it behave differently still?

I've verified it: "Courteous" has:
- Max connections: 24
- Max connections per server: 8
- Max persistent connections per server: 2

I've set Fasterfox to "default ", then deactivated it and restarted Firefox. Same picture. Btw, your site is the reason why I installed Fasterfox...

IE does a better job on your site, seems to be more perseverant to retrieve all images. But it also had "unreachable" errors at the same time as Firefox.

Yes, measured on your website, IE seems to be faster, but the whole connection is unreliable. E.g. now in IE the avatars aren't shown anymore.

If you tracert to us, are there any hops along the way that are timing out or have unreasonably long lag? The trans-atlantic hop sometimes has some problems.

Keep me posted... when it starts acting up again please take a look at the tracert and see if there is a route that explains why.
