EclipseCon attendees get preview of Matisse4MyEclipse UI Designeras one of many new MyEclipse features
SANTA CLARAMarch 20, 2006Genuitec, LLC, a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, today announced that it is previewing upcoming technologies targeted for MyEclipse 5.0 at EclipseCon 2006. These technologies further MyEclipses position as a leading tools provider for Java, Web and database developers.
MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench is a full-featured, user interface (UI)-to-database enterprise-class tool suite and extensible platform for developing AJAX/Web 2.0 and JEE applications. Built on the Eclipse platform, MyEclipse provides advanced features and support for the latest technologies as required by todays agile development teams.
According to Forrester Research, Inc., "Eclipse challenges traditional models of megalithic enterprise development tools, allowing users to adopt more granular tools better aligned to their needs - and this agility is seen by adopters as one of the key advantages of Eclipse." (The Eclipse Tools Market Enters The Next Phase, Forrester Research, Inc., October 25, 2005)
Among the MyEclipse 5.0 features that will be previewed is project Matisse4MyEclipse, an Eclipse integration of the popular Matisse Swing user- interface designer from the Sun NetBeans project. This feature makes MyEclipse the first and only IDE to unify Sun NetBeans and Eclipse into a single extensible development environment. Matisse4MyEclipse enables simple and intuitive
visual layout of UIs within Eclipse without requiring an understanding of the complexities of Swing layout managers, widget customization, alignment or spacing.
Incorporation of Matisse exemplifies MyEclipses leadership in innovative uses of Eclipse technology to tear down universally perceived technology barriers in order to provide MyEclipse users the best-of-breed productivity tools for designing, developing and delivering complex Swing desktop, Web/AJAX and JEE applications, explained Maher Masri, president of Genuitec, LLC.
Genuitecs MyEclipse 5.0 also includes the following new features, which will be demonstrated during EclipseCon:
- Customizable RAD features generate 3-tier JEE Web-database applications in minutes using JSF or Struts, Spring and Hibernate technology
- Web/AJAX 2.0 tools, project creation and effects automation, and learn-by-example quickstarts
- Enhanced Database ERD modeling and schema and data editing
- Struts 2.0 with tiles support
- Web services development
- Eclipse Web Tools Platform integration
- Eclipse Platform version 3.2 compatibility
- Extended Visual Web Designer tools support for Linux and Mac OS/X
- Windows operating system desktop integration pack with send-to, open-on and other features.
MyEclipse continues to deliver superior value to businesses by enabling high developer productivity, stated Masri. "The features being incorporated into MyEclipse 5.0 represent a significant advance in the ability of developers to quickly build and integrate complex modern applications and application components.
EclipseCon 2006 is the premier technical and user conference focusing on the power of the Eclipse platform. It will be held March 20 to 23 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. More information regarding EclipseCon is available at http://www.eclipsecon.org. Genuitec will conduct demonstrations of these new technologies in the exhibit hall in Booth 514 and at a special vendor session in room 206 on Tuesday, March 21, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
